Ms. Thunder Thumper Challenge #2

You guys have been eating so well at home!!! But, it sounds like when the temptations of the real world come around it's hard to make good choices.

You will have 5 days to complete this challenge. However there will probably be another challenge before the time limit on this one ends so keep your eyes out for it.

The challenge is to eat a meal out. I can hear the lips smacking, jaws dropping, saliva glands going crazy. Thats right, I want you to eat a meal out. But, the challenge is to keep it under 450 calories. That includes everything, drink, salad dressing, fries. You also need to have at least a fruit or vegetable serving involved and a protein.

I suggest going online and looking at nutrition menu's of places you may like to go. There are a lot of things out there to eat with only a few adjustments you can have a very large, yummy satisfying experience.

So have at it ladies. Take a friend and enjoy the experience with them too! With a little thought ahead of time you can make good choices even when you're on the run.

  3. So, they just opened a Cafe Rio in Denver. I think that will be the perfect place for this challenge. Can I order something with more calories and only eat half of eat?

  4. Mindy, I think that is just a grand idea. I would still check on their website and see if they have a nutrition guide...maybe they do have something realistic or at least you'll know what half is. I've never done this myself but I've heard of people asking to have half boxed up front or the box brought right away so you don't get carried away...

Can't wait to hear how your experience is. Missy and I are headed to chick-fil-A tomorrow!

  5. Chick-fil-a would be my choice out, that or Chevy's, but there isn't one here. Can't wait!

  6. Chick-fil-a today with the kids. I had the spicy chicken wrap (410) with a cutie (40) I brought along and water. The sad part was that I didn't get to enjoy the spicy dressing. At over 150 additional calories, I had to kiss spicy goodbye. It was still yummy, but a bit dry. If I had a "do-over" I would bring along 40 calories of oil & vinegar for dipping and save the cutie for later.

  7. Chick-fil-A: I a southwestern grilled chicken salad (290) because it has a corn bean salsa as part of the salad. I didn't eat the cheese they gave me or the sunflower seeds, or the tortilla strips. I passed on those because I wanted to enjoy my scant drizzle of spicy dressing (1 serving 140) but I actually had just less than one serving. Because of the corn bean salsa there is just enough not to make it too dry. I enjoyed a nice calorie free drink with it. The best part was I enjoyed it with a friend. It took me a long time to eat and I was full after.

Melissa, try the salad. The actual wrap itself is what adds the calories on. But sounds like you did a great job! Is a cutie a small cone? I think I need to put spray balsamic dressing in my bag for my next lunch outings consisting of dressing salads. I almost brought my measuring spoon.

  9. Audrey and I had fun at Chick-fil-a today. I had the Chargrill Chicken Sandwich and side salad with light Italian Dressing. Currently it's my favorite meal - all under 350 cals.

  11. Fridays are the boys treat day if Levi has earned 1's at school. He usually chooses a Happy Meal at McDonalds. I chose the Premium Bacon Ranch salad with grilled chicken for 260 cals. The dressing packet was a total of 170 cals, but I only used a few squirts so I'm not sure of the exact cal count, and a bottle of water. It was okay...I make a much better salad with fresher greens.
