Pondering protein powder . . .

I know some of you drink a protein drink at some point during the day. I'm wondering what you like, what you would recommend. After reflecting on my protein intake over the last few days, I think I could stand to add some more of that good stuff to make my muscles happier and energy level higher.

  1. So I went to Ikea and bought their gravy shaker for my protein drinks. It works perfectly because the measurements are right on the side of the container and I don't need to get out my blender in order to mix the powder in completely.

I drink a vanilla ice cream flavor protein powder called gold standard 100% whey protein isolates by ON. Their web site is www.optimumnutrition.com. They sell it here in Virginia, but I can't remember where. I mix 8 oz of milk with one scoop of protein powder and a teaspoon of pure unsweetened baking cocoa. It is so yummy, and you get the added antioxidents and 1g of protein and fiber from the cocoa.

  2. I've started takeing NU-TEK PRO 5 about a half hour before going to bed. I bought two flavors, vanilla and orange bar, although there are several other choices. The vanilla is way too sweet but the orange bar is yummy, yummy. This protein is a little more expensive than most but I'm worth it. Here's a link if you want to check out a review.

Yes, you do need more protein, this mother says so!

  4. I have been using the Jillian Michaels Natural Whey protein. I find it at Walmart. I like it because it doesn't have ANY artificial sweeteners and it has 15 grams of protein. I make it with water, a spoonful of peanut butter (about 2 grams protein) and 2 CUPs of fresh spinach!! Then I put 1/2 a frozen banana or a little less and ice cubes. It seriously tastes like a shake! You can't taste the spinach at all but it does make it very green! even though it has a chocolate taste.

    Good luck!

  5. Our family uses the Body Fortress Whey Protein Powder. You can find it at Walmart too. They come in a few different flavors but I like the chocolate one. Blend it up with a little ice and a banana and/or peanut butter and it's SOOO delish. Just blending it with some ice makes it almost like a shake and not something you have to choke down.
