Water

I have a real problem with water consumption.
It just doesn't taste as good to me as Pepsi. I did not drink any Pepsi yesterday though. Yay!
I usually add a Crystal Light packet to my water so I can drink it, not a fan of the lemon slices in water.
But, I feel like I shouldn't always be adding those packets to my water. I also forget to drink it.
If I have a soda handy, I NEVER forget to drink that. But water? It will take me all day to make my way through a 16 ounce bottle of it.
So, give me some suggestions girls. How do you get all your water in?

  1. I'm a fan of the Diet Dr. Pepper when I have lunch at Chick-fil-A. What I've done a few times is keep my cup and use it for a few days with ice water. There is something about having it in my car that helps me drink it more often.

The crystal light is a great idea. I think you just have to mix it up to make it work for you.

  2. First of all, there's nothing like a reformed addict, (that would be me) they love to preach so here goes my preaching. Give up soda! Studies show that people who drink soda, particularly diet soda carry more weight, plus soda causes a lot of other health problems. I've got bone loss from drinking soda and often I have had to go in for a second mammogram due to my consumption of Diet Coke. My joint pain has demished by 90 % since I gave up drinking soda. My cravings to eat at night after dinner have also gone way down since I quit. I decided the only way I could quit drinking Diet Coke was to not drink any soda of any kind. I figure I'm saving about $30.00 a month now that I don't buy soda which I'm now spending on new clothes after losing weight this year.

First thing in the morning I get a fresh 16 oz bottle of water and I drink it. Then I fill that same bottle up at least 3 more times through out the day. I have to confess, I really have to concentrate to get at least 64 ounces drunk each day because like you I would prefer a nice fizzy soda. After 10 months of soda free life I don't EVER plan on drinking any of it again, it's just too addictive.

  3. I'm not a big soda fan, so I don't replace water with it. However, I'm just not a thirsty person. I drink water at night after most likely being dehydrated all day, but like Audrey said, if I put a bottle of water in my car, I always drink it (unless it's summer and the water gets way too hot). And Crystal Light sounds just fine to me. Good luck! I know I struggle with consuming water as well!

  4. Have you tried putting water in a Pepsi can? I know it seems silly but sometimes the container you are drinking out of makes a difference. Maybe you will subconsciously pick up the soda can and end up drinking more water. Another thought is to get a new water container. Something that's new and cute or something that will catch your eye maybe.

Good luck! I am struggling with getting enough water right now too.

  5. The thing about getting enough water in is making it very, very convenient. If you keep a water bottle handy at every "stopping station" in your house (i.e. the computer, the kitchen counter, the bathroom, your bedside table, etc.), you will find it much easier to get those 64 oz. in. And label your water bottle! There are a TON of water thieves around my house, always stealing my water! But I guess that's a good thing, because my little ones love to drink water from a water bottle now. Teach 'em healthy habits young!

  6. Race your kids at the dinner table to finish water. (they need to drink more too).

Fill 4 tall glasses and line them up. Don't go to bed until they're done.

Definitely drink a tall glass first thing when you wake up, another at lunch, another at dinner. Depending on your glass size, you only have one or two more to fit in during the day (one during exercise and one mid afternoon).
