Elusive Before Bed Point

My challenge with the Before Bed points is this: I determine if I'm in my range in the evening and if I'm under, I don't have much time to enjoy the difference before my two hour limit kicks in. So, I'm thinking I should follow Audrey's advice and eat more early in the day. Roughly how do you break down your day calorie wise? For me, it's been, on average, breakfast 18%, morning snack 7%, lunch 23-29%, afternoon snack 7%, dinner 29-34%, leaving me with between 5 -16% after dinner. Too much late in the day, right?

  1. Kudos to you for doing all the math to make these percentages add up right! I can't tell you percentages, but I defininely think my biggest intakes are at breakfast and lunch. I'm trying to make dinner a little smaller.

  2. That is such a great question! I've always wondered the same thing and found a great reference on Trainer Momma a while back that I try to follow: http://trainermomma.blogspot.com/2009/09/its-ok-now-eat.html and

    Hope that helps a bit!

  3. Alicia those are great post from Trainer Momma.

Melissa, my meals are all about the same. If one happens to be lighter I add a little to my afternoon snack or dinner. I rarely have calories for a night time snack. Usually only about 100 calories, I can enjoy a fudge bar, sugar free pudding etc. I always try to make it a treat that fits in between 8 and 8:30. I upped the points because I've been eating more later and going over my calories or maybe not because I didn't eat enough earlier in the day but eating them late is not a great idea.

I'd say try bigger snacks to start.

  4. This is easy, eat a larger breakfast and lunch. Your math amazes me, I wouldn't have thought to do the percentages as I'm into simplification. I would just look at the calories for each meal and ramp them up where needed. I know you're not supposed to eat two hours before bedtime but my trainer wants me drinking my protein supplement before bedtime. I suppose if I was counting points I wouldn't get that 1 bedtime point but my trade off is I will be burning 400 calories while I sleep. I'll take the 400 calorie burn off and skip the point.
