Oh, It's Already Been Broughten!

Have you all seen Bring It On? Becky's post made me want to reply like a sassy, dumb, blond, cheeerleader. Picture me saying the title of this post with one hand on my hip and my head wobbling like those gay guys on In Living Color.

But for reals, Becky, good for you! We all took the summer off, and you're calling us out for it! I think I speak for a lot of us when I say that we LOVE this blog, but we got a little burnt out. I seriously hate tracking my calories. It is so tedious that I would rather give myself paper cuts in between all my toes. I took a break, and now I have to pay for it. But thanks to this blog, I am fully equipped to lose the pounds that I put on this summer.

So I say, it's ON!
You better watch your back, Becky, cause we are right behind you!

PS- Audrey- Thank you for starting the new challenge on Tuesday, cause I got a whole container of peppermint ice cream in my freezer, and I'm gonna eat it like it's my birthday.

PPS- Becky- I cannot say the name Becky without thinking of Sir-Mix-Alot. "She looks like one of those rapper guy's girlfriends!" That line is gonna have me cracking up all day. Although, now that I think about it, that might not be a bad theme song for this blog.

  1. I knew who's post this was the minute I read the first line!!! I LOVE IT! yes, we all need to finish are summer indulgences this Monday and of course with a birthday party I couldn't resist waiting one more day!

You will however note that we only have a one day break between the next two challenges...I'm bringing the heat.

Why during the summer months when the healthy food is so plentiful that we pack on those little pounds? Is it the ice cream?

Mindy, wish I could share your peppermint ice cream with you! Enjoy!

  2. Mindy maybe they should have named you Peppermint Patty. Hilarious post Mindy although I'm showing my age because I'm totally clueless about this movie.

Paper cuts between your toes over counting calories, are you crazy? Paper cuts are painful, painful, painful!

  3. Mindy, yes I've seen the movie, but it's been a while and I only remember the general plot. Way funny quote! I'll have to rent it again sometime. And remind me about the Sir-Mix-Alot quote. Is it from the same movie, or another one?

Did I mean to call everyone out? Yes, I guess I did, but not in a snotty way. I don't like being in front so much. It makes me feel awkwardly conspicuous. I like hiding better, most of the time. Once in a while, I'll feel impulsive and dance out front to get a few cheers, but that's not the status quo for me.

How do most people on here track their calories? Do you look them up on The Daily Plate and then write them in a notebook like my sister Sue does? What's your system? And are there any secretly anal data-crunchers out there like me who just like the process of counting calories?

Speaking of peppermint ice cream, my daughter Dani and I have been playing with peppermint ice cream recipes the past few days. Compared to the kind you make with whipping cream or half & half, lowfat or fat-free yogurt just doesn't taste right. Something about the tang of yogurt and the cool mint just don't mix. But, I gotta tell ya, the full-fat mint ice cream with choc chips or crushed choc cookies was to die for! I swear, I could blow three days' of calories in one sitting!

  4. Okay I just have to say I love Bring It On! I can't help it, I was a cheerleader in high school.

I can also relate to despising counting calories. I am trying to figure out a way to keep myself in control without spending so much time on the numbers. Ideas anyone? Enjoy your ice cream tomorrow, I too wish I was close enough to have some.

  5. Forgot to mention, Becky I use my cell phone to track my calories. I have a calorie tracker and spreadsheet loaded on it. Nice because it is always with me.

  6. I track the old fashioned way: a notebook and the internet. Is that old-fashioned?

We all keep threatening to usurp you, Becky, now one of us has to step up to the plate (loaded with veggies and lean meats).

  7. Becky, I don't think you're being snotty at all! It's all in good fun! I like the idea of having a prize, too. That was clever.

I use an app on my iPhone called Lose it. It has a huge database of food, and you can enter your own foods. It makes things easier. I think there's an on-line version, too.

The Sir-Mix-Alot quote is from his song, "Baby Got Back" aka "I Like Big Butts." The beginning had this dialogue between two (presumably) white girls, one of whom was named Becky. Do you remember?
