Giddyup!

As of my last post I had put on 4 lbs up at the cabin.  Well this little post here made me saddle up Ol' Nelly and keep on keepin' on.

I weighed myself last week on Saturday around 12:00 when we returned from the Bachanalian revelry that was the family vaction.  And I weighed myself today at around the same time (central standard time).  I am proud to say that I am down 7 lbs.  How cool is that?

And you know how I did it?  I made two goals for myself this week.  They were small goals too.

Goal *1 - Drink those 64 ozs of water.  At SlimGenics I had to drink 80 (yes 80) ozs of water everyday so you would think 64 ozs would be easy to down.  .  .  But it's not!

Goal *2 - Don't eat after dinner.  That was hard!  In the summer I go to bed really late because I have the whole summer off to sleep in (perks of being a teacher).  I tend to watch tv with the old man and then we eat.

I didn't reach those two goals each day but I did my best to try!

So now my next goal might be to cut the fat free french vanilla creamer from my coffee every morning.  But I seriously get the withdrawal shakes when I think about doing that.  We'll see!

Thanks HWHL ladies.  I'm not half the woman I used to be but I am down some!

  1. GOOD JOB LORI!! Keep it up! Those two "small" goals are some of the hardest for me. You've inspired me to try it out this next week!

  2. Wahoo! I think that's a great way to start. Cold turkey works sometimes, especially if you are an anal data-cruncher like me. But it's also great to focus on a few achievable goals, like the water and no food after dinner, and become proficient at them before adding more skills to your arsenal. Whatever works, baby, whatever works.

  4. Awesome! The water thing is a big help, I think. Trainer Momma drinks a gallon a day!

  5. Go Thigh, get Bussssy! I've got to get serious about my water intake this next round. On the days that I exercise I usually have no problem because I start the day off with hydration. But if I don't exercise, I don't usually have a water bottle out and accessible for frequent drinking.

I think choosing small goals to master one at a time is the best way to make the changes permanent. Things that require a lot of effort and commitment in the beginning will soon become standard practice and your body will let you know when you've gotten off track. You'll know exactly how to get back to healthy living and your body will crave it. Soon it will be a lifestyle you can totally maintain (with a few great free days thrown in every now and then!).

    I'm so proud of you!

  6. The water and not eating after 7:00PM were excellent choices Lori. Fantastic that you've dropped the vacation 4 and another 3 on top of that....just terrific!!!

I leave Colorado tomorrow and hope to get back upon my exericse pony tomorrow night at my gym in Olde Virginny. Giddyup will be my mantra for sure.
