Nope, this ain't easy.

It's Halloween weekend. I'm sure many of you have parties to attend, kids to get ready and candy to hand out. It's not easy juggling so many things with temptations in the house...not to mention I made this challenge longer than usual. I did this on purpose. This is just a taste of the challenges that are ahead with Thanksgiving and Christmas.

Many of you may have had a few slip ups already. I have. The important thing is to not stop. Everyday is a new day and a new opportunity to make better choices. More better days than bad, that's a realistic goal.

So I have two things to tell you. FIRST: Don't stop working at this challenge. Everyone who post their post their points at the end of the session will be put into a drawing for the fabulous gift Melissa has offered. Of course, not the person who wins the bling, sorry who ever the lucky one is.

SECOND: Challenge #2 is to tell everyone what your successes were this weekend. It's not perfection. Small successes help each of us grow. I can't wait to hear all about it!

  2. So I just got home from the ward trunk or treat party. I decided to eat before the party to be sure that I would be in control of what I ate at the party. I was able to enjoy some salad and not feel deprived. Another reason I ate before was because I didn't want to guess which foods were gluten free. It wasn't until I got home though that the temptation came on strong. The kids all dumped out their bags and I could tell it would be hard to resist my favorite candy and chocolate. I ate two of my favorite bite size chocolates and wanted more. Instead of eating more though, I made myself a hot cup of cocoa and enjoyed every sip. Now the cravings are gone, and I am so happy I didn't go over board and gorge on that cursed Halloween candy. I can't wait for it to be out of my house. We might just give it all away to trick or treaters tomorrow. Is that legal, second hand candy? Like re-wraping a wedding gift.

  3. I read Marci's comment, and I just had to laugh, because she was so good, and I was soooo bad in comparison. Because I broke 190 Saturday morning, I decided to be good until it was time for the Trunk or Treat. I'd earned it, right? (Bad, bad Becky!) Then, I let the wild horses run. I felt like I ate my weight in candy, and in the lucious soups that were a part of the ward Halloween Party dinner. Aaah, I still have fond memories. Someone made a white chili dish with black-eyed peas and it was really, really good. I should track down the recipe!

Anyway, I think I will have to use Marci's chocolate substitution technique, for sure. I don't know what successes to share, except perhaps I decided to quit eating chocolate and stick to the taffies... yeah, that's still pathetic.

  4. Becky, I like your technique of sticking to taffy instead of chocolate. So funny! I should have been smart and saved my free days for Halloween weekend, but I already used them, so I had to be sure to eat within my range. I'll plan better next time. Congrats on breaking 190! You are amazing...keep it up. You're going to be needing lots of new clothes by this spring if you keep up this pace!

  5. My biggest success was getting enough sleep to have the energy to party with my kids. I love this holiday!! I went to bed super early Friday night instead of staying up in the wee hours of the night.
