Ms. Thunder Bumper's Challenge #2 Quotes

There has been a lot of emphasis on getting back into the routine of eating more healthy and exercising but today I've decided that it's time to focus on the mental side. It's always hard to get started. Last week when at lunch with some friends I received this fortune:
Do not give up; the beginning is always the hardest.
Sometimes something we hear, see, or read helps give us the extra umph to get through life. It's not always about being healthy but just dealing with the challenges that life gives you. But, I promise you, if you're healthy physically and emotionally you can deal whatever comes you're way a little easier! Get sleep, relax, eat well, exercise...they are all coping mechanisms.

For 10 points you can either comment here about your favorite quote or if you want to expound feel free to devote a whole post to it! You have until Wednesday night to complete this.

  1. I think in addition to sleeping, relaxing, eating well and exercising, we need to make sure that we are laughing. Life is pretty dang funny if we have the courage to look at things in a different light. Laughing always makes me feel better, even when challenges seem too much to bear.

  2. One quote for now and maybe a post later.

"Life is not about waiting for the storm to pass, It's about learning to dance in the rain."
    Also,
"We can't go back to make a brand new start, but we can start now and make a new ending." Ardeth Kapp

  3. So funny that Mrs. Thunder Bumper's "quote" came from a fortune cookie. I have a fortune sitting above my computer that I read all the time. It says:
"Every person is the architect of his or her own future." It's true and so very applicable to what we're trying to do on this blog!

    Thanks everyone!

  5. It's been a tough week and I've been at my wits end, especially with my 5 year old. I'm usually looking for inspiration to keep me motivated to be healthy but sometimes you just need to be reminded how to be a better person.

This is a quote I keep in my laundry room that I read every so often as a reminder. One of the things I don't like about myself is that I'm a yeller mom. So these words have really resounded with me, especially once again this week.

"I plead with you to control your tempers, to put a smile upon your faces, which will erase anger: speak out with words of love and peace, appreciation, and respect. Your marriages and family relationships will be preserved. you will be much happier. You will do greater good. You will feel a sense of peace that will be wonderful. May the Lord bless you and inspire you to walk without anger, without bitterness of any kind, but to reach out to others with expressions of friendship, appreciation, and love. -President Gordon B. Hinckley General Conference Oct. 2007

As I was typing this I thought of something else, if working on this helps put me in a good place then I'm also less likely to use emotional and stress eating as a crutch.

Just keep swimming, just keep swimming.......

  6. Love the Dory quote - you bet!!

    Here's mine, short and sweet:
"Fall down seven times, get up eight" - a Japanese proverb. It goes right along with Jill's post about her daughter's race.

I should have that quote made into a t-shirt, too.
