Hi Ladies!
Thinking about all of you today because I have about 7 of these in my freezer. All freshly caught by the husband-fisherman. So fresh fish is on the menu every week for awhile. How should I cook this trouty fella?
First, I'm wishing they had cut off that head with the beady eyeball. I just don't like my protein looking up at me while I'm cooking and eating. Know what I mean?
Have a great day everyone!
My boys are saying "yum" while gazing at your picture. I am with you though, I don't like my food staring me down.
ReplyDeleteMelissa- It's good to have a post from you. We do try to eat a lot of fish in our house, but I haven't ever had fresh caught fish. Don't like the eyes looking at me, but I'm sure it tastes better. Are you skinning the fish before you cook it? I have some pretty yummy marinades you can try, but I don't know how it would taste with the skin on. Let me know and I'll post some ideas.
ReplyDeleteOk, I can't bring myself to cook fish that isn't already cleaned and deboned. It frightens me to actually think about it. That fish is scary looking, like is is looking at me right now. Good for you!!
ReplyDeleteTrout, bake it or pan fry, it needs no marinade just some salt and pepper and a squeeze of lemon after baking. Cut the head off before cooking then the eye won't be starring at you. I love trout and I'm pretty good at deboning it after it has been cooked. Enjoy one of those babies for me....good job fishing hubby.
ReplyDeleteVictoria is right on with how to cook it! I grew up fishing and there were this awesome little cleaning areas along the lake so you took you're catch home ready to eat. this will be so yummy with fresh fruit and steamed veggies! I'm going to that same lake I grew up on this summer! can't wait to have my own fresh fish!
ReplyDeleteMy brother used to make me take out the eyes with my thumb and then he left the head on. Not me. Cut that puppie off before it's cooked at my house.
