Hi Girls. Wanna know how I am going to survive the Thanksgiving temptation? I've got the best solution in the world!!!......
I'm getting my tonsils out on Thursday. My deviated septum will be straightened out at the same time.
Ya, it's not really the best solution for getting through the holidays.
Have any of you gotten your tonsils out as an adult? I had my freak out moment Sunday evening. Hopefully it's out of my system and I can think clearly now.
I am usually sick about 4 months out of the year with throat and sinus related problems. In fact, I have had a sore throat every day for the last 6 weeks. My wise mother put everything into perspective during her last pep talk to me yesterday. She reminded me that it was indeed worth it...that in my lifetime if I continue being sick like I have in the past, I will have spent the equivalent of 16 years sick. That was all I needed to hear.
So, my next 10 days will be spent in bed, drinking whatever my throat can tolerate. No Thanksgiving dinner for me.
I don't mind.
The typical Thanksgiving menu is not my most favorite. I'm more of a Christmas dinner kind of gal.
I can do this...I can do hard things that scare me to death!!!
This will also be my first break from HWHL since Audrey started the challenge. I will miss you guys while I sleep a week of my life away. See you all next month!!!
Good luck my friend. You will be in our thoughts and prayers. Don't worry you will do great! Just think, you get to be pampered for the next 10 days TAKE ADVANTAGE of every minute :)
ReplyDeleteWait, wait, wait....you're not getting off that easy. You don't have to do the challenge but you could continue to comment as you rest and recover and you definitely need to do a post about your tonsillectomy.
ReplyDeleteSeriously, I'll be thinking of you and praying that you have a super quick recovery.
Ice cream I understand is the most soothing food after one has had their tonsils removed.
I've never had a tonsillectomy, but good luck. My son used to get strep throat 4-5 times a year until he had one, now he's been strep-free for over two years. I'm sure it will be great for you. As for my plan for Thanksgiving, I'm hoping to be in the hospital having a baby. And we all know how hospital food is, I won't be eating a ton of it!!
ReplyDeleteBest wishes for a successful surgery and years of healthy days gained because of it! That's a reason for gratitude!
ReplyDeleteRest and eat ice cream without guilt.
Yes, enjoy your ice cream!!! I'm sure Ben and Jerry's will be more than willing to help you through this difficult time. Ha ha!
ReplyDeleteBut seriously, I hope you are coping ok, and that you are getting lots of help from your family... I can't decide if I'm being serious about this statement. I don't think my kids would be good house cleaners, but your husband and kids might step up to the plate and help you out during this time.
Again, I'm just babbling. I really do hope you are doing ok, and that you do well during this period. We'll see you soon!!
Marci,
ReplyDeleteSurgery is never fun but I know you will be just fine. I haven't had a tonsillectomy but I have had a deviated septum fixed. The first few days are a little rough but it is well worth it in the long run. I will be thinking and praying for you. Hope you have a speedy recovery!
Hi Girls! I'm alive! Things are coming along. The first two days were pretty good, then day 3,4 and today have been a bit more rough. My stomach is upset most the time. Probably from the pain meds, which I hate and wish I didn't have to take. They give me grief in many different areas, but they are vital in being able to drink fluids. I hear day 6 7 8 9 and 10 just keep getting better and better. After today, i'll be over the hump. Thanks for the kind words. I miss you guys. I miss eating, and exercising. I'm so tired and sleep most of the day away, and all night too. Sometimes a little too deep...there's been a couple of times I've slept through my medicne alarm and end up missing a dose. That really makes things tough. My mom is here until Sunday, and that makes everything better. ANyway, see you girls soon! Love you all! THanks for the prayers.
ReplyDeleteSo glad to hear things are going well. I'll be thinking of you!!!
