Food failures

So, I've been on a cooking rampage over here, trying eight new recipes over the past two weeks. Problem is, only one has been a resounding success and only with me: the broccoli salad I wrote about last week. And all that food failure finally caught up with me yesterday in the form of about 10, but I kind of lost count, oatmeal cookies {also known as the boyfriend cookies}. The straw that broke my camel's back was my childrens' reaction to the homemade chicken nuggets: they would barely even take the required one bite. I had to remind them to not insult the chef and stop making gaging faces, all the while totally, and secretly, agreeing with their culinary assessment.

So here's a new lesson learned for me: DO NOT bake cookies during new recipe trial weeks because they will ALWAYS be successful and you will inevitably eat them all to make up for the food failures in other areas of your life. Agh!

  1. That's so funny! Although, what you really need is a picture of Cookie Monster demolishing the cookies. I should email one to you, a scan of a page from a children's book. Yeah, I feel some cookie love coming on. I might be naughty and post lots of totally-non-helpful treat recipes today...

  3. You made successful Boyfriend cookies, I'd say that is cooking SUCCESS. Sometimes you have to cook and taste a lot of Frogs before you find a Prince of a recipe. Don't give up on trying new recipes.

  4. Cookies are always better than a good meal. Sorry that you didn't like the chicken...I'm assuming it was pickle chicken :-(
