Moving On...

Thanks for coming to my Pity Party the other night. That was fun, wasn't it?

In all seriousness, I really appreciate all of your kind comments and concern. It seems that we've all been there, haven't we?

And now I'm moving on, done wallowing and ready to be more proactive in my life. I'm starting by participating in this challenge. It's been awhile but I'm going to complete this one, no matter the score. And I'm setting a 30 point goal of only napping on Sunday afternoon. Sleep is not a good way to combat depression so I'm committing to only sleeping at night and getting more things done during the day.

I started this week by getting up at 6:00am to exercise. It's been quite awhile since I've done that. Since June I've just exercised outside, mostly running, because I enjoy being outside. But because I haven't been eating as well and completely abandoned any weight training, I've gotten a bit out of shape. That was made very clear to me after doing Jillian Michael's 30-Day Shred yesterday and today. Dude, I'm sore! So I'm refocusing on my fitness and committing to include strength training and abs at least every other day.

What are you all doing for exercise now that the weather is turning cooler? I was made of tougher things this spring when I was willing to go run when it was below freezing early in the morning. I haven't been able to bring myself to run until about 10:00am when all the frost has melted off and the sun is shining brightly.

  1. I am still doing my 2x exercise class for core & weight training. I'm also trying to get in some laps at the pool and pound the elliptical. I think I'm going to have to start up with DVDs again soon because sometimes it's the only thing I have time to do.

Thanks for inviting me to your party. Glad to come, anytime.

  2. I've started adding variety at the gym and it's still been nice enough to get outside. I bet you'll be out in the freeze before you know it!

  3. Dude, I hear you about exercising in the cold. First, it hurts my lungs. Second, it makes my legs and rear end really itchy while I'm working out. I'm running or walking outside, and itching furiously, but I'm out in public, and don't want to continuously be scratching my rear end. So no winter outdoor workout for me.

I go to the Rec Center, or I hop on my Gazelle strider. Workout videos are a must for relieving the bordom. I also love my Firm Wave when the weather gets cold.

  4. I'm with Becky, I hate the itching. Drives me crazy while I exercise. I have a bunch of workout DVD's I do. I also have a husband that works odd hours so I am often able to get a workout in outside during the day when it gets a bit warmer.

  5. Working out through the winter is a beast! I keep asking my self the same question...how am I going to continue running all winter? I'm not sure yet. I have saved up a little money to buy a pair of running tights made for the cold. I think that will help. I also hope I will acclimate. I guess we'll see.

It's nice to have you back Sue!

  6. Sue, you have been GREATLY missed on this blog. I'm really grateful to see you joining the challenge again because you are a blessing in all of our lives. You've had a lot on your plate the past few months and I know at times it's been easier to give into your depression. I'm really over joyed to read that you are taking some positive actions to move forward despite the loss and loneliness you've been experiencing. There are times in life when we feel like we trudging through life alone, but we are not.....I know this to be true.

  7. Sue, I am so proud of you! Way to get up and keep moving forward :) My friend and I have decided to run outside as long as it's at least 18 degrees. We have done colder but your eyelashes freeze and it's hard to get warm for the rest of the day. I do go to the gym 3 days a week and do a weight class which is good since sometimes it's my only "social" moment. When I do DVD's at home I start to feel lonely sometimes... so theres my schedule :) Good luck my friend!
