I can't even explain how difficult this past session has been for me. Breaking out of the Christmas indulgence, celebrating birthdays, and a huge outflow of cash when my furnace broke. Those things all put me over the edge. Can I tell you how excited I am to start fresh.
For the last two years (this will be the third) my family and I have traveled to Ohio to spend this long weekend with Melissa and her family. It always includes good food (my favorite being cheese fondue), birthday cake, and putting on my bathing suit. Nothing like donning the bathing suit in January all pasty white. However I will go and enjoy a fabulous and fun weekend and come back ready to take on life once again. It's almost like having another New Years.
I spend several hours of our 6+ hour drive looking through cookbooks recommitted to not only cooking more often for my family but cooking healthy meals. This year I've got a new one to look at.I'm excited to find something new to do and share with all of you. My husband is always excited when I decide I like cooking again, because I'm actually a pretty good cook.
So get all the meh out of your system and gear up for another challenge starting on Tuesday. It's a fresh start once again. Don't you love it!
I can't wait to hear how you like this book. Have a great time on your trip. Just think, you look better and feel better then last year so CELEBRATE and have FUN!!!
ReplyDeleteThis was a very tough round for me too!
I started strong but kind of whimped out over these last few days. I think I need a serious work-out today or tomorrow though (maybe both!) because one of my kids is trying my patience with sleep issues night after night. Need to release some of that frustration.
ReplyDeletePlease do share what you think of the book. I always love new fresh ideas of cooking. It's so hard to break the holiday over indulgence. Your body adapts to eating like yuck during the holidays. Luckily, with a little persistence it can turn around too. Aren't our bodies AMAZING!
ReplyDeleteAudrey, that sounds like so much fun! I would love to be stuck in a car for hours so I could pour over books and magazines. You're going to have so much fun!!! Please share some of your favorite recipes with us.

ReplyDeleteSorry, had to delete my typo. It's the a-type English-major side of my personality. Here's the comment post, again, but fixed:
ReplyDeleteYou mean I get to pig out for 3 days?!!! Ha-ha!! Seriously, though, I won't go too nuts because I want to break 184 in the next session, and I can't do that if I pack on 3 or 4 pounds before the session starts. But I am soooo eating the green enchiladas I made for dinner last night. Oh, I can't wait until I finish working out so I can have them for lunch!
We are zoning in on each others' brainwaves on this cookbook thing. I just reserved Jillian's cookbook at the library yesterday. Hopefully it will come in this next week.
Yeah, I wasn't completely over the holidays, either. I'm still craving some of the treats I made for Christmas. I may even post a recipe for one during our 3-day break.
I had such high expectations for myself this go around. My only major accomplishment was meeting my goal otherwise I've failed miserably. I'm ready to start again on Tuesday of next week, have a blast in Ohio.
ReplyDeleteI just wanted to say that I agree with Chris, you are a great cook. I love coming to parties at your house, because I know you make some great and tasty things!
ReplyDeleteI had a peak at the new cookbook, by the way, and the chicken recipe section looked especially promising: fresh ingredients, not too challenging prep, taste combinations I know I like. Hope Audrey posts her favorites.
