Advice?

Today is going to be a good day. I can feel it. My mental attitude is on track. I went to bed early last night. I woke up, had a Greek yogurt, fruit smoothie, took my vitamins, and drank lots of water. It's 10:00 am and my house is already clean for the day. Yeah, it's a good day, well all except one little itsy bitsy problem. I've had this back problem ever since I was pregnant with my third child three years ago. It aches all the time, and hurts to bend over. I can easily talk myself out of exercising because not only does it hurt right now, but after exercising I am toast and in a lot of pain the rest of the day. Ok, so last year I worked through it, did P90X, and got it strong again. Well, one thing led to another and I am back to square one. So here's my question: I need to just suck it up and work through the pain to get my back strong again. I know there are some of us on here with the same problem. What exercise do you do to not hurt your back more than it already is?

  1. Swimming, stretching, weights with my back on the mat, and yoga are my starting places when my back aches.

  4. I've never had big back problems. I totally agree with everything Melissa said...they are spot on. Lots of times a sore back comes from a weak core. Anything you can do to strengthen your core (that's front side and back) will help you alleviate the back problems and you'll be able to exercise more freely.

  5. Pelvic tilts are really good for bad backs, also the cat camel exercise.
