No more sleeper cell...

Happy New Year ladies! I'M BACK!

As I look back on 2010, it was very momentous for me. I started it off by winning the first ever challenge on this blog, then I hurt my back, pretty much gave up, gained about 20 pounds, had to leave a career/hobby I loved, had to leave sweet friends and family in VA and NC and moved to California (via a cross country drive full of fast food and Diet Dr. Pepper). There were so many happy times last year, but it was the difficult ones that kept me from being the happiest, healthiest wife that I know I can be.

I've been in my new home for one month, my back still hurts sometimes, I miss my friends all the time, but I'm doing GREAT! Despite last years trials, I'm really happy and like it here in Huntington Beach, CA. There is such a positive and active vibe here. It's contagious.

I am so STOKED for this challenge. Not just because it's a new year, but because it's a fresh start. I'm excited that I'll get to keep in touch with all of you and not just cyber stalk you as I read your motivating posts, but was too tired/sad/busy to act upon them.

It's Sunday night, and I've just baked the last of my holiday goodies...a last indulgence before the real work begins. I will have to break my holiday addiction to sweets, that will be hard, but I can do it!

I wish you all luck as we begin a new challenge. I'm not going to be so bold as to say that I will win this challenge, because I know all of you are fierce competitors, but I'm going to say...you better watch your back. :o)

All the best!!
Missy

  1. Missy,
I agree with you it is going to be a challenge to break my holiday sweet addiction too but I am so looking forward to the healthy happy feelings I have when I eat right and exercise.

Best of luck in the new year, I hope your back just keeps getting better.

  3. My sister has lived in HB for 6 years now. You're going to love it! I agree, it's going to be hard for me too, but well-worth it.

  4. Missy! I've missed you! And I must say, I'm jealous you are in HB. It's one of my favorite beaches, and the one I grew up going to. Aahh, home sweet home. I can't wait to see pictures and hear stories about where you are now. We are definately missing your beautiful smile, but i'm so happy you're back on the blog. It's going to be a great healthy year!!!

  5. Missy, so happy to read a post from you. I know Audrey misses you BIG TIME, it's good to be missed. I'm so ready for this next challenge. Hit the gym this morning, am on my second bottle of water and I'm counting the calories. Time to detox from all the sugar, butter and whipped cream I've been eating this past month. Game on!

  6. You girls are cute!! So glad to read your motivating posts. :)

Marci, I live on 19th Street (just North of the pier). I'm five blocks from the beach, so I've really enjoyed walking & biking to the beach and the great paved trails they have there. I'm getting the courage to put my roller blades back on and see how that goes. hee hee. Wish me luck!
