Out of my comfort zone

I tried something new at the gym yesterday that I've been too intimidated too venture into before. Spinning! And aside from wanting someone to give me a piggyback ride down the stairs to my car afterwards, I was pleasantly surprised! I actually found it invigorating.

Normally I want to poke my eyeballs out on the stationary bike, but the spinning class had the right amount of music, diversion, instruction and fun to keep me going the entire hour. I'm planning on returning and maybe even now tackling a step class that I've always felt to uncoordinated to tackle, but why not?!? Anyone else out there pleasantly surprised when confronting something new to you? What's next on your exercise bucket list?

  1. Never tried spinning - but love step classes. You can get the hang of it!

  2. Katie, I've wanted to try it, but the times haven't worked with my schedule. I'm already excited about next year when my two youngest should be in school at the same time 4 days a week. Whoo hoo!

  3. I'm working up to a spin class, don't think I'm quite ready for it yet. I'm also eyeballing the beginners yoga class at my gym and may give it a try next week. I'm totally NOT athletic so I always have this fear of failure when I try anything even remotely related to sports and exercise. Congrats on overcoming spinning intimitation and finding success at your first attempt, step class coming up....you can do it.

  4. Katie, are your buns sore? I remember my first time at spin class. I thought I was going to throw up the whole time and my seat was sore for a whole week. I soon became addicted.

And Queen Vee, how can you say you aren't athletic. Look at the height on that jump of yours in the beach picture! Wow wee!

  5. Katie, spinning class is the only reason I wanted to keep my gym membership. I was so nervous to try it the first time, but I was instantly hooked. I'm glad you loved it.

  6. Spin is THE best!! If you haven't tried it, you MUST! even if you think you aren't ready. You will want to take it slow at first anyway. I did NOT take it slow and I was throwing up in the gym bathroom for a good hour after the class. Spin is perfect for someone who needs structure, like ME! I would much rather go to a class and get my butt kicked, then try and get the same workout on my own (impossible).
