But there is something we all need to understand: Falling Is Not Failing!
Giving In Is Not Giving Up!
It is such a hard game. One minute you feel like you've got a handle on things. You might even feel like it is so easy. The next minute, you find yourself struggling, hungry for something you know won't fill you up, won't make you happy.
This is a game of chance, not a game of luck. The setbacks are just us, doing in our hearts what we know is not right. We can make excuses. I used to see skinny people and think how lucky they were to not struggle with their weight. But, it's the choices they make verses the choices I make.
We either choose to do it, or not. Even though it sometimes doesn't feel like a choice, it most definitely is. The rules are so simple: get the eating under control, and work a little exercise into your day. Make good choices most days and the best one available to you on the other days.
It's not easy, and it's not a game. It's your life and a roll of the dice isn't what gets you moving. It's just you.
I'm not really a sports person, but I absolutely love this quote:
ReplyDeleteI've missed more than 9000 shots in my career. I've lost almost 300 games. 26 times, I've been trusted to take the game winning shot and missed. I've failed over and over and over again in my life. And that is why I succeed.
~ Michael Jordan
It's the getting up and continuing on when we have a failure that really counts, not whether or not we've been perfect. Success belongs to those who will keep going, despite the number of disappointments.
Here are some more quotes about success that I picked up on www.quotegarden.com:
In order to succeed you must fail, so that you know what not to do the next time. ~Anthony J. D'Angelo, The College Blue Book
Judge your success by what you had to give up in order to get it. ~Author Unknown (I'm thinking about food here: pizza, candy bars, cheesecake, cheese in general... well, you get the idea.)
Success seems to be largely a matter of hanging on after others have let go. ~William Feather
Success will never be a big step in the future, success is a small step taken just now. ~Jonatan MÃ¥rtensson
Success is how high you bounce when you hit bottom. ~George Smith Patton
It is wise to keep in mind that no success or failure is necessarily final. ~Author Unknown
Success and failure. We think of them as opposites, but they're really not. They're companions - the hero and the sidekick. ~Laurence Shames
The only time you don't fail is the last time you try anything - and it works. ~William Strong
I have not failed. I've just found 10,000 ways that won't work. ~Thomas Edison
Supposing you have tried and failed again and again. You may have a fresh start any moment you choose, for this thing we call "failure" is not the falling down, but the staying down. ~Mary Pickford
Failure doesn't mean you are a failure... it just means you haven't succeeded yet. ~Robert Schuller
Never confuse a single defeat with a final defeat. ~F. Scott Fitzgerald

It is a mistake to suppose that people succeed through success; they often succeed through failures. ~Author Unknown
Sorry, that was so long, but some good words to consider, I thought.
I've been thinking about this post and can tell that you had another rough few days. Becky has put some wonderful thoughts for you to look at! Thanks Becky!
ReplyDeleteJust the fact that you even care or are frustrated by your mistakes puts you steps a head of someone who doesn't care at all.
I know it is really hard but it's important not to compare yourself to others. Especially skinny people. I know this is hard because that's a goal we'd like to obtain but skinny people are not always skinny because of good choices.
There are lots of skinny unhealthy people. I know that's hard to imagine but it's true. Example. Yes, this guy who lost all this weight that Samantha put up last week. Yep, he's skinner, but I'm telling you I wouldn't say hey look how healthy he is now.
I like the calorie bank thought but eating whatever you want doesn't cut it.
Be the healthiest person you can be, physically, emotionally, spiritually. You are an inspiration to all of us.
I think if there are not set backs then either you're not making enough changes or you're doing something that mentally you think is short term and you can do it for a certain length of time!
Hang in there! You can do it!!!!
