Bake sales are evil

The reason we all have issues with sugary sweets is that bake sales were unrestricted and omnipresent when we were young. But all our children's health problems are about to end thanks to a new bill that would give the government power to limit school bake sales and other fundraisers that health advocates say sometimes replace wholesome meals in the lunchroom.

I'm so glad the government has tackled this issue head on because we all know this fundamental truth: bake sales are evil.

  1. You are funny! I actually never get tempted at bake sales since I don't know what kind of house they came from... OK, my cleaning OCD is coming out :)

  2. By the way isn't so great that the government is getting to the core of our children's problems???

  3. Oh dear, a political statement, hence a political comment. I think the government is over regulating and I don't agree with the bill. I feel like the government is taking away our freedoms in small and big ways. I don't think that being over weight is due to bake sells supporting good causes (quite frankly I'm not going to buy a bag of carrots to support the local band or sport team) For most of us it is because of what we put in our mouths in our own homes.

  5. The next time I volunteer at school, I'm wearing a big button that says, "BAKE SALES ARE EVIL!" I love it.

  6. Home teaching vs. government teaching - it totally bugs me. There's this undercurrent philosophy that the mass populace is too stupid to take care of itself and that it's the government's responsibility, even right, to make laws that will save the public from itself. Just can't agree with that because it promotes the reliquishment of individual responsibility, the only thing that will keep a civilization together, that keeps free will alive. Might as well be living in Orwell's 1984. And that's where this undercurrent philosophy is taking us.

  8. Did you guys see Demoliton Man? Seems to be the way the country is heading. Pretty soon, even what we do in the privacy of our bedrooms will be regulated.
